Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is GIFT?

A: A faith experience for people of all ages at St. Dennis Parish, Madison, Wisconsin.

Q: What does a typical GIFT gathering look like?

A: We begin with a meal in the school gym, then move to Church where we will have an opening prayer and activities followed by a dynamic presentation/breakout sessions. The evening will end with a closing activity, prayer, and distribution of a special home kit.

Q: When are these sessions offered?

A: This year we will have three of them; November 9 or 10, February 8 or 9, and April 26 or 27.

Q: How long as the sessions?

A: Sundays 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Mondays 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Q: Is this required for Faith Formation?

A: Yes, this is a big part of our entire Faith Formation program.

Q: What’s the "Home Kit"?

A: The Home Kit provides further opportunities to explore the faith sessions at home.

Q: What are the benefits of this approach?

A: Today's families are pulled in many different directions. We seek to bring families together and offer them an opportunity to share a common experience that will help them to explore their faith together. Many individuals and families are looking to feel a part of a community of faith, GIFT brings the parish together, strengthening our sense of community. This sense of community carries over into our weekly liturgies and ALL of our parish events. Faith formation does NOT end with Confirmation. Adults need and want to continue deepening their understanding and practice of their faith. GIFT honors and supports this life long journey.

Q: What happens if I am signed up for Sunday night, and because of a sickness or other emergency, I can’t make it?

A: You are welcome to attend the Monday session. We would appreciate you contacting the parish office so your name can be added to the Monday registration.

Q: Can I register at the door the night of the session?

A: Probably not. These programs are meant for the parishioners of Saint Dennis, however, two weeks before the event, we will open it up to other parishes. We expect all of our sessions to be filled to capacity.
